Liceo Scientifico I. Newton
Our Liceo Scientifico belongs to the Upper Secondary education level run by the State Over a 5-year course of study, mainly focused on Science, Mathematics and Physics, it aims at preparing students to higher-level studies and to the labour world by providing them with adequate competences and knowledge, as well as cultural and methodological instruments for developing their own life skills, i.e. critical thinking and planning skills. Over the three school years 3rd, 4th and 5th students attend 90 hours in activities of work-related orientation projects, which are compulsory to access the leaving State examination.
Why do we participate?
Motivations to take part in this project are to give students responsibility and to encourage self-reflection, reflection about social interactions, greater awareness about understanding that environmental issues are strictly bound to human interactions, since there are consequences to their actions. Such a project can motivate students to reach a goal and to meet expectations in getting a more sustainable, humanly possible and inclusive society. Successful projects have been implemented in the past three years with all the students of the school on topics such as cyberbullying, harrassment and discrimination of women, migration and asylum, environmental issues.
